Installation

Basic installation instructions are available in the ReadMe_First.html file with the Presto installation package. For complete information on requirements and installation for all Presto components and add-ons, see:

You may also need to change port or proxy server configuration. See Configuring the Presto Server with Custom Ports and Configuring the Presto Server to Work with a Proxy Server for instructions.

Where To Go Next

After installation, your next steps working with Presto depend on the components you have installed and on your goals. Try A Quick Tour of Presto for a peek at the basics of working in Presto. Or see Introducing the Presto® Real-Time Intelligence Platform for an overview.

You may also have other configuration changes to integrate Presto with your environment and policies:

  • Moving the Presto Repository: if you are simply trying Presto out, this step is not required. The initial HSQL database that is installed with Presto is sufficient.

For proof-of-concept or other development work, or for production use, you must move the Presto Repository to a robust database solution, such as MySQL. See Moving the Presto Repository to a Robust Database Solution for more information.

  • Integrating Presto with Your User Repository: if you are simply trying Presto out, this step is not required. Presto will use the Default User Repository that is installed with Presto.

Otherwise, see Creating or Configuring a User Repository for Presto for links to the tasks you may need to complete.

  • General Configuration: such as logging, enabling mail for notifications, enabling SSL for secure connections, configuring Presto Add-Ons and many more features. See Mashup Server Configuration for links to more information.

  • Presto Security and Policies: define the policies you need to control access to mashables, mashups and Apps. You must also enable user access to Presto Hub. See Presto Security for more information
