Can the widgets developed in JackBe be embedded into standard portal solutions like Sun or do then need to be accessed via the JackBe UI?

Yes! Our mashup widgets (we call them 'mashlets') are JSR-168 compliant, and work with all common portals including IBM, Oracle/BEA, and Sun.
