Beyond presentation (mashlets), how mashups can lead to leaner process automation by mixing info from different types of applications?

Mashups can certainly help consolidate data from multiple processes into a single environment. EMML and Wires support mini flows that pass data from one service to another. However, mashups processes are immediately executed. They are not long lived.
