You're not doing anything wrong. When you click "Add App" presto building a list summary of available apps, which is taking far too long, something we need to sort out asap.
As a workaround, assuming assuming you want to add an app you've created, if you go to the Apps tab and select "Mine" from the drop down choice. If you want to add the app to your palette, you can do this by right clicking the app and select "Add to Palette".
Unlike apps listed on the apps tab, when you add an app to the palette you can then preconfigure any properties associated with that app before dragging and dropping it onto a workspace. So once you've added an app to the palette, when you right click it, the context menus will include a "properties" option, through which you can pre-configure the app.

Hi,
I am new to this product. I was using the online version of Presto on the cloud. When I open Mashboard, and simply click on "Add App" button, it takes a long time to show me the popup with the list of Apps. However, if I happen to click this button several times, mashboard hangs with a grey overlay. The only recourse is to reload the mashboard. Is this a known issue? Am I doing something wrong?
I am on a Mac and using Safari.
