Is the data that is output by this system, universal? Can I take the data and make more mashups on a variety of systems or does it only work with your software?
Yes, mashups can be published as in many standard formats like RSS, SOAP and REST. And there is a 'virtuous circle' in a good mashup solution, so every mashup becomes a source on which you can build other mashups.

What BPM tools are compatible with Presto and are there any cloud based BPM?
Posted 01/04/2010 - 13:42 by Blythe
Most BPM and BPEL based systems expose the processes as WSDL services. So we would interface at a data standards level (RSS, ATOM, REST, SOAP). Most BPM tools use these standards today. I recommend looking at Forrester's research on the BPM market for good cloud BPM vendors.

Can you only pull live data in via XLS files, or from SOA, JDBC, API, etc. and if you can, how?
JackBe's Presto lets you create mashups from ALL of the sources you list. It is one of the defining functions of an enterprise mashup platform.

JSR-168 is nice, but it doesn't help me as an ASP.NET developer. Is there support for displaying mashlets in ASP.NET apps?
Yes, we have a .NET API as well. And we are just about to release some examples of Presto Mashups in Sharepoint. Keep an eye on http://www.jackbe.com/enterprise-mashup/

Can we place these mashups in portal pages/pda, if so, how much customization do i need to do?
Mashlets can be published as JSR-168 portlets. That way they are quite easy to insert into most portals. Check out http://www.jackbe.com/enterprise-mashup/videos/presto-connectors-adding-... for a quick demo of this.
