Today is an exciting day for all of us. We have launched the 3.0 version of Presto. With this release, our Enterprise Mashup Platform enables you to create mashup-driven Apps and share them in your own internal Enterprise App Store. Presto 3.0 accelerates the ability for tech-savvy business users to create, use and share the Apps they need while also letting IT maintain security and governance over enterprise data assets.
Now what does an Enterprise App Store mean for your organization? Here’s how a fellow community member describes his Presto 3.0 experience after participating in the 3.0 Beta Program:
“JackBe Presto has helped us aggregate and compartmentalize our application data into consumable chunks of information that can be delivered readily in different ways to a number of information delivery platforms. Based on what we’ve seen in the Presto 3.0 beta program, JackBe has taken this to the next level by bringing a familiar concept, the “App Store”, to the corporate enterprise allowing end-users to quickly discover useful applications or augment them further to suit their own needs. We’re excited to see this in concert with their security improvements to support single sign-on out-of-the-box in their next release.” (Thanks Lou Sacco from Qualcomm!)
Needless to say, Presto has grown to offer a robust set of visual tools for creating secure Enterprise Apps. Over the past month you might have seen some of our blogs that highlighted a few of the new features in Presto 3.0:
- App Maker: create Apps in 4 simple steps to view information in a chart, graph, funnel or on a map. Presto offers over 15 out-of-the-box visualizations to view and interact with enterprise information.
- Mashboard: a new App assembly and wiring tool that allows you to create sophisticated App dashboards or what we call ‘workspaces’. Share your collection of information as workspaces with people you trust.
- Wires: while still the popular visual mashup-making tool, it now has a massively expanded palette of actions to use right out of the box.
- Mashup Sites for SharePoint: an advanced SharePoint add-on that mashes SharePoint Lists and publishes Apps as SharePoint WebParts.
And there’s much, much more. Even if you are a Presto 2.7 expert, there’s lots of new stuff to see. So how and when can you get your hands dirty building your Enterprise App Store? In the coming weeks we’ll finalize the Presto Cloud Community Edition and give it to you. In the meantime, we’d like to invite you to a community-only ‘Presto 3.0 Cloud Edition Preview’ webinar on Tuesday July 13th at 2pm EST. We will give you a quick tour around the product, highlighting some of its key features and talking about the evolution of our Presto platform to deliver an Enterprise App Store. We invite you to ask questions and come with suggestions, we truly appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you at the ‘Presto 3.0 Cloud Edition Preview’ event next Tuesday!

It is nice to see a long term player continue to evolve with the market and do well. As far as I know, the developers' performance continues strong in the down economy. They attribute this to three factors: their large client base and long standing clients, the appeal of the Web 2.0 features in Presto, and their focus on departmental solution with low cost points of entry.

Presto 3.0 Cloud Edition is available to all Mashup Developer Community members. Simply click on the link, 'Go to Presto Cloud' menu item and you're in Presto. MDC and Presto are one cohesive environment now and you should have no problem accessing the software once logged into the community.
At this time a download version of Presto 3.0 is still in the works. We expect the download to be available in the next few weeks.
