While you were sleeping, Deepak and I snuck into the Mashup Developer Community and released Presto Developer Edition (DE) 2.6.1. While it's not a huge release, it does have a few cool features.  Read on for some interesting details and quick instructions on how to upgrade as well.

First, you can make your mashups as secure as you need them to be. PDE 2.6.1 has expanded security options so that REST, Syndication (RSS) and WSDL services now support secure connections and/or authentication using Basic HTTP Authentication, NTLM Authentication (Windows system only), 1-way or mutual SSL.  (We do, afterall, support mashup efforts at security-conscious organizations like DIA and DISA.)

In addition, PDE 2.6.1 is easier to use and a bit faster as well.  It includes expanded support for Eclipse and read-write support for the HP Systinet 3.0.  There are also some important bug fixes and some of performance enhancements as well.  A complete list of features and fixes can be found in the Release Notes in the Documentation.

You can download Presto DE 2.6.1. from the Download page.  Click on 'View Your Account' (in the left hand sidebar) and go to 'Jackbe Licenses' to get your free license key for 2.6.1.  If you want to migrate your PDE 2.6.0 mashups to 2.6.1, check out 'Migrating to New Versions' in the Release Notes in the Documentation
