The Presto Developer Edition is finally here! Let me share you my experiencies throughout the installation process and the publication of my first mashup, using the code example I wrote weeks ago.
I'll be covering windows installation but it applies for both windows/unix. The only difference is the .bat and .sh (to be run with ./filename.sh ).
Everything went flawless and the next step was to launch presto repository which holds the data within presto. Go into: Presto2.6.0\prestorepository\hsqldb and launch server.bat. I used embedded HSQL but you could have this done in MySQL and Oracle out of the package. I saw configuration tables for these two other providers.
Again everything went fine and the next step was loading our main goal. Presto Mashup Server. Yikes!!! Did you shiver as I did? It's so exciting to finally have this version and share thoughts with the community. Anyways I went to Presto2.6.0\mashupserver and launched startPresto.bat which launched the Tomcat which I previously configured.
I saw the Tomcat log while it was deploying the applications and I noticed that it told me something about my license and continued deploying. When it finished I opened my browser and went to localhost:8080/presto. There it was an eye-candy Presto Dev Ed screen. This screen asked for my license key ( which you can get at View Your Account/ JackBe licenses / Request a new license). After entering the license the installer told me who I was ( Dev community name and email ) it sent me to a login page. I used the default credentials and I WOWed. Everything was so neat and categorized correctly that I jumped right into Publish Service.
I hoped you traveled with me during this post and got as excited as me. Share us your experience and tell our friends to register and download Presto Developer Edition. If anything came up during the installation don't hesitate and post it in the forum. Me and other community members would be glad to help you out.
Here's the screenshots of this installation. Sorry for the format but this way was better since I wouldn't like all the images downloaded. I rather let you choose which step to see and wait less for the original blog post to load.
