Every so often we find something in Presto 3.0 that is so cool and useful we want share these tips with you. Last week I highlighted the Data Decorator block.
Today I wanted to ‘get sophisticated’ with the Advanced Mode in App Maker. Presto 3.0 has a ton of visually-rich ways to make your Apps work best for you. The ‘Advanced Mode’ in App Maker lets you take this idea to another level entirely, enhancing your App’s appearance, helping you present your data in the most appealing way. However, Advanced Mode isn’t entirely superficial either. Sure, a few simple tweaks in Advanced Mode can really make an App eye-catching. But some of these advanced options can make the App easier to use and easier to understand.
For example, when I created my FIFA App, I found the default tables and charts somewhat lifeless. As you can see below, using the Advanced Mode I added colors to the background, changed the color of the bubbles, and removed the labeling for a cleaner view of the bubbles.

Perhaps more importantly, I also added some very simple code to incorporate images (taken directly from a third-party website) and to convert URLs to clickable hyperlinks.

Using the Advanced Mode allows you to put a little personality into your data, draw attention and ultimately win that bonus! (Well, we can’t promise that but we can sure help you try!) I hope you find Advanced Mode a smart way to save you time in your App-making. You can learn more about Advanced Mode options in the documentation. Always remember, these Tips aren’t a substitute for the documentation, or the full-featured ‘How-Tos.
